What do you LONG for?
Right here, right now.
In the midst of –
Shopping,
Wrapping,
Decorating,
Cleaning,
Baking,
Planning,
Entertaining,
Attending,
Gathering,
Mustering your game face,
Celebrating….
What is it that you are desperately longing for?
Could it be…
Rest, sleep, an unscheduled evening, quiet, peace, more time, stillness, less, time with God, January?
Is your answer in this list?
Do you notice a common thread?
The month of December can be hard on our bodies and our souls. We don’t get enough sleep. We feel the pressure to “make it all wonderful” and “get it all done!” We experience guilt and frustration when something slips through the cracks, or our time alone with God is neglected (yet again)!
No matter the word/s we choose to wrap it in, we can find ourselves desperately longing for PEACE during the hectic days of December.
Where do we find that PEACE we are longing for?
[ctt template=”2″ link=”7Npf3″ via=”yes” ]We find peace, only in the person of Jesus Christ. It can’t be bought or created. Peace can only be received. @HaddixDeborah[/ctt]
Matthew 11:28-29 – Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
John 14:27 – Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
John 16:33 – I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.
Philippians 4:6 – do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
How do we RECEIVE peace?
Come to Jesus. Either for the first time ever, the first time today, or once again.
Be aware of your soul’s need for peace and be intentional to receive that peace: slow the RPM’s of your mind and life, clear your schedule, say “NO,” make time for some self-care, breathe, engage in stress relieving exercise, preach the truth of the above Scriptures to yourself.
Enter into the rhythm that Jesus, Himself, modeled for us.
Matthew 14:23 – And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone,
After a time of busy (Christmas), enter into a time of rest.
Do you need to enter that rhythm (rest for your soul after a time of busy)?
Is it time to be intentional about coming to Jesus and receiving His peace?
If so, please consider joining us during the month of January as we rest and receive.
The Nourish Your Soul: 30 Day Challenge will take place from January 1 – January 30, 2017.
As a challenge participant, you will receive soul nourishing Scriptures on a daily basis –either through a private Facebook Community or via email. You will also be encouraged to spend some time each day with the day’s Scripture: read it, write it out, breathe it as a breath prayer, memorize it.
For those wanting to go deeper, a list of suggested activities for engaging on a deeper level with the daily Scriptures will also be included: pray the verse in color, meditate on it through lectio divina, map it, or journal it.
OR if you prefer working in community, click HERE to join our PRIVATE FACEBOOK GROUP. Beginning January 1, 2017, one Scripture will be posted on the group page each day for thirty days. Here members of the community will be able to receive support and encouragement as they work through the challenge. Come join us as we each work through the challenge – processing what we hear God speaking to us, sharing our thoughts, asking questions, making connections, and occasionally posting our Verse Maps, Praying in Color, or Journal entries.
Come. Enter the rhythm of rest. Engage with Scripture. Nourish your soul. Receive HIS peace.

So simple and true. There is peace nowhere and with no one else! Thank you for this Biblical call to come!

I smile sometimes when we sing Silent Night, because so much of Christmas is anything but silent, and there’s so little of the “sleep in heavenly peace.” May we come the Savior for the only true peace available in this world — particularly at this time of year!

YES! Coming/going to Jesus is the ONLY answer for true peace. Thank you for this for we get too stressed out in the midst of when we should be sitting at the foot of the manger.

mbethany, So simple. So true. Yet so very difficult for so many of us. I know I need to learn to heed the call to simply COME. Thank you for visiting today. Merry Christmas!!

Yes, Michele, I so agree. May we be INTENTIONAL about “coming” to Him.

Oh, yes, it is so easy for us to become distracted with all the activity of Christmas losing sight of what is truly important. Thank you for stopping by. May you rest in His peace today!
